According to PSI, the Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled Janne Pesonen from the WBS Penguins. Pesonen has 16 assists in 19 games to go along with 5 goals. On his previous stint with the Penguins, he played in only one game and was relatively invisible. He started on the scoring lines before playing most of the second and third periods on the fourth line. He played a physical game and was good defensively despite these being the areas in which it was thought that he needed to improve. We did not get to see his offensive potential, however. He could easily play on one of the top two lines this time with the recent struggles of the Penguins offense. He could also see some time on the powerplay.

The Tribune Review is reporting that Max Talbot is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury. After taking a puck off of his left foot in the first period of Wednesday’s game, he did not return. Pesonen is likely with the team for only as long as Talbot is out. Look for him to be returned to WBS after Saturday’s game against the Devils unless he does something to really impress.

Interesting. According to the Post-Gazette, Pesonen and Talbot will play tonight. I wonder who’s eating nachos tonight?

    And Curry gets the start.
