Crosby To Miss Second Consecutive All Star Game Due To Injury

A year ago, Sidney Crosby found himself on the sidelines of the All Star game, battling a high ankle sprain that kept him out of action until late in the season.

This year, Crosby has a knee injury that doesn’t appear to be as severe, yet his presence at the All Star game, once again, will be missed.

Despite returning to action for two games, Crosby has been recommended by Dr. Charles Burke to refrain from skating for the next week. His status for Wednesday’s game is uncertain at this point.

Crosby will be replaced by Tampa Bay Lightning forward Martin St. Louis.

Thats really good to hear…kinda. The good part is that he is going to miss a great opportunity for himself, to hopefully be able to heal to help his team. Alot of players would play despite the nagging injury, just because it is the allstar game. Kudos to Sid. The bad of course is that the injury is still there. Hopefully, this rest heals it but with our luck this season…lets just say someone better knock on wood.

Now, that sucks. But I agree Surge, at least it will give him some time to heal. Let’s hope ENOUGH time!

Obviously, it’s bad for the NHL, as its face will miss the game for the second time in as many years.

But it’s good for the Penguins. Let’s face it, the All Star game is a joke. The only thing that can come from the game is an injury, and with Crosby already abttling an injury, there’s no reason to play.

Surge, I think this withholding of Crosby has more to do with avoiding a re-aggravation during a meaningless game and giving Sid a large amount of time off the ice to really heal up, than it has to do with his injury still being there. Look at how he played the last two games. His skating didn’t appear to be off that much at all.

Matt, very true. But on the other hand, we are talking about a player who played the last month of a season and the first round of a playoff series with a broken foot. My point is that just because it is hard for us to notice him favoring his one knee, does not mean that the pain doesn’t exist. I’m not saying its a serious injury but pain will wear you down through the course of a game and season.
