According to the Penguins website, defenseman Kris Letang, who suffered a shoulder injury late in Monday night’s game, pronounced himself ready to play.

“Yesterday I went to see the doctor,” Letang said. “It was a strength problem. Today I felt pretty good out there. I battled and got my strength back so it’s up to the coach. My strength is getting back.”

Coach Dan Bylsma was non-committal when discussing Letang’s role in tonight’s lineup, stating that his participation would be a “game-time decision.”

No Line Changes

The lines for tonight’s game have been subject of much speculation, but based on this morning’s game-day skate, few changes look to be forthcoming.

On offense…

Kunitz-Crosby-Guerin
Fedotenko-Malkin-Sykora
Cooke-Staal-Kennedy
Dupuis/Satan-Talbot-Adams/Godard
(Satan and Godard are expected to sit)

On defense…

Orpik-Gonchar
Scuderi-Gill
Letang/Boucher-Eaton

In goal…

Fleury
Garon

One Possibly Hiccup

Despite the above, word has floated around that the Penguins may begin the game with a combination of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and either Chris Kunitz or Bill Guerin. Nothing is confirmed, but Bylsma has started games with this mentality in the past — primarily in the Flyers series — and has had some success.

Don’t be surprised to see this stacked line approach throughout the next two games, as Bylsma will have the benefit of matching lines while on home ice.

    Update:

TSN reportedly has mentioned Max Talbot will be playing on the second line with Evgeni Malkin, while one of Petr Sykora or Ruslan Fedotenko will be dropped from the line. No one from the previous game is expected to be benched for tonight’s game.

I hope Letang is ok to play, he brings speed and great offense. Talbot could possibly bring a spark to the second line.
