    Sweeeet!!

It was great seeing Crosby have all the vets who’d never won a Cup (or hadn’t for awhile)get the first calls to lift it – Guerin, Sarge, Satan, Gill, Boucher, Sykora.

It’s not quite as good as the first time the Pens won, but pretty good after 17 years.

Pens, I dunno, I think this was just as sweet….cuz it is paybacks for last year. In any case, I LOVE IT!! OUR BOYS DID IT!!!!!!!!!

I think the first time any team wins a championship is the sweetest, but this IS pretty sweet, too. :)

Oh man. I’m too young to remember much of the first two cups. Seeing this one…I was crying. I can die happy now.

It’s almost 6 am here and I’m running on adrenaline and waking the neighbours.

I feel so fortunate to experience this season and the fantastic endresult.

It’s every bit as sweet. Time to join the crunch of people buying Talbot jerseys, as much for his post-game interview as his performance.

You know, no one will mention him, but Therrien deserves the credit for developing players like Scuderi, Talbot and Kennedy who played such big roles in the finals.

    WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!
    WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!
    WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!
    WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!
    WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!
    WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!
    WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD!

We need to take a moment and tip our hats to Craig Patrick who, if memory serves, was the GM who drafted Fleury, Malkin and Crosby.

Also, a very big tip of the hat to the Stanley Cup winning goalie, Marc-Andre Fleury! A oy and double oy on his last second lunging, diving save on Lidstrom! It was as if the magical mystical powers of the Terrible Towel guided the puck to the Penguins logo on the Flower’s uniformed chest to preserve the Penguins series clinching win.

I was 9 and 10 when the Pens won their first two Cups. I was excited then. Now, I actually appreciate it more. Heck of a year. I’m shocked yet not at all surprised. GO PENS!

Fleury’s stop on Lidstrom with nanoseconds left – perfect save. As the play unfolded, I could tell, just watching, he had the save made, and he knew he had the save made. Otherwise, I think we’re telling a different story tonight.

I was 2 and 3 years old when we won the first two cups so this is pretty much the first time for me. This season feels so much sweeter than last season because of all the sh1t we’ve been through this season… Not to mention what the players have been throught… What an amazing feeling seeing Sid raise that Cup to the sky and fulfilling his lifelong dream… at the ripe old age of 21

Yes, yes, tips of the hat to Patrick and Therrien….

wouldn’t it be nice of MT visited FaceeOff Factor one more time??

First thing I asked my hubby this morning was “It wasn’t a dream, was it?” He laughed at me =)

I remember the ’91 and ’92 cups very well. This has got to be right up there with that….what a feeling!

It was real nice hearing Melrose and Barnaby have to eat crow publically on ESPN, too. :)

Just in case anyone’s interested, here’s the order in which the Cup was carried. I like how they made sure the veterans who haven’t won it or haven’t won it in a while got to carry it first.

    1. Sidney Crosby 2. Bill Guerin 3. Sergei Gonchar 4. Miroslav Satan 5. Petr Sykora 6. Hal Gill 7. Philippe Boucher 8. Ruslan Fedotenko 9. Craig Adams 10. Mark Eaton 11. Matt Cooke 12. Pascal Dupuis 13. Chris Kunitz 14. Brooks Orpik 15. Rob Scuderi 16. Marc-Andre Fleury 17. Maxime Talbot 18. Evgeni Malkin 19. Jordan Staal 20. Eric Godard 21. Kris Letang 22. Tyler Kennedy 23. Chris Minard 24. Alex Goligoski 25. Michael Zigomanis 26. Dan Bylsma

Still can’t believe it! I feel so proud to be a fan today.

    Who’s going to the parade???

Thanks to all for the comments, and I look forward to continuing our ongoing discussion all summer long!

The only quibble I have with the Cup carrying order is that Sarge wasn’t the first after Sid. I loved seeing Petr Sykora with the Cup. I know he missed carrying it with the Devils when they won and you could see how anxious he was to get his mitts on it and lug it around the ice. :)

I wonder what Miro Satan said to his countryman, Marian Hossa in the handshake line? I wonder if he thanked Hossa for leaving and giving him a chance finally to get a Stanley Cup championship.

I had really forgotten exactly how I felt when they won in ’91-‘92, but last night it all came flooding back. I was 13-14 when they won the first two cups, I wept then as a teen and last night, standing in a packed bar with dozens of other like-minded fans and with Sid the man and Le Magnifique hoisting that beloved chalise above their heads, I wept again. As a 30 yr. old man that has followed these Pens through thick and thin, I am not one bit ashamed to say it. I just hope I don’t have to to wait so long to experience that feeling again.

Congrats to all in Pens Nation, it was a great season and a start to many more I believe.

And also congrats to the staff of FoF, you guys are always my first stop, tPb my second, and you both do one hell of a job for us fans.

    Is it October yet?

Tom, we don’t even want to think about that yet. Let’s savor this feeling for a while…

Amen, Dabich. Enjoy the Cup for a while. There will be plenty of time in the coming weeks to discuss free agency and/or trades.
