The Pittsburgh Penguins and the City of Pittsburgh will hold a victory parade in downtown Pittsburgh on Monday. The parade will be the second of its kind this year, as the Pittsburgh Steelers were crowned champions of the NFL back in February. The parade will start at noon at the intersection of Grant Street and Seventh Avenue in the Golden Triangle.
No word yet on Sidney Crosby’s status for the parade, as team officials have confirmed he is day to day with a lower body injury.

I have to hand it to Sid, going and in taking that face-off, that had to be painful as hell. That is a true team leader.

The Cup itself, along with a few Pens, will be at PNC Park for today’s game against Detroit.

The parade was a bit subdued as compared to the Steelers’ one. The Pens definately needed James Farrior up there to MC instead of the always uptight Paul Steigerwald. :)
Fleury was hilarious thanking the fans for sticking with him even when he lets in soft goals and the apologizing for swearing on the post-game interview with CBC.
I don’t know who’s idea it was to put that little stuffed toy penguin on top of the Conn Smythe Trophy, but that was funny, too.
I was surprised none of the Pens hopped off their cars and went crowd surfing ala Troy Polomalu.

While I didn’t see any crowd-surfing, I did see a bunch of Penguins get off their rides and run along the edge of the crowds giving high fives and taking pictures and having their pictures taken. Staal, Talbot, Guerin and others.
Drove for 5 hours to get there, but it was clearly worth it. I was still smarting from not being able to make it in 91 and 92, while I was in CA for college.
It was a long time coming, but it’s here!!

Max Tablot tired at one point to body surf through the crowd but a police officer warned him not to do that….It was on the WPXI footage,

Cops can be such kill joys. Troy P has done it both times during the Steelers’ parade and is none the worse for wear.
