Shelly Anderson of the Post-Gazette is reporting that defenseman Sergei Gonchar is expected to return to the lineup Thursday.

The former All Star has been out of commission since October 20 nursing a broken wrist.

His return couldn’t come at a better time, as fellow defender Jay McKee will miss the next two to four weeks with a finger infection.

It’ll be good to see Mad Max on the ice, too, sporting that ear to ear grin like the cat that swallowed the canary.

Chris Lee’s been called up. Let the speculation about Eaton begin.

down one more, but back up two… good direction, but wish we could avoid losing key starters.

I sure hope this insane rash of injuries comes quickly to a close.

BOP – agree heartily on seeing 25 back in action again, good stuff!

@Dabich, it appears you spoke too soon. Gonchar and Talbot return, but McKee and Eaton are now hurt.

@Pucks, Max will be a welcomed addition to the lineup. He and Kennedy bring a personality and never-die attitude to this team that really seems to motivate their teammates.

@Bobby, I’m with you. Not only is it difficult seeing the team’s best players on a revolving IR door, but it’s a pain in the butt for me to update the transaction log, injury report, roster report, and front page to reflect the changes :)

@Breno, Thanks for the update. Eaton is listed as DTD and is going to take the pre-game skate tonight. His participation in the game will be a result of how he feels during the skate. Let’s hope we don’t have to count on Lee tonight…

This is totally amazing and not in a good way lol.
I’ll be half afraid to turn the game on tonight in case…errr…n/m :x
