Is this the first time Crosby and Ovie have gone into a matchup with Sid having more goals?

  3. Matt

    Jan 21, 02:44 PM

Careful not to knock Ovie, guys, there’s a pretty good flame war going on over at ESPN right now because Crosby got his pic on the NHL front page and Ovie didn’t…

wait actually now there’s a second photo with both.

oh crap. the media makes everything a friggin free for all of this stuff.

Pucks, You no likey playin da caps, right?

Curious why Caputi wasn’t called up again? What sort of message does that send him? You failed in your 4 game tryout?

  7. Casey

    Jan 21, 03:27 PM

@Nazkev83 – It seems like they rarely call up the same forward twice in one season. They want to see what other guys can do.

    @DB,
Hopefully TK playing with Sid may get him out of the funk he’s in right now. I don’t see the third line being split up for long. I expect to see Johnson with Sid a little as it is where I think the team sees him playing next season. I look for him to slip into the Guerin spot.

Dabs, not playing the Caps, I dislike the Caps. As people. =) They’re only tied for fifth on my Hate Chart, though, but they’re there.

@ Bag, who is 1st-4th? I’m assuming the Flyers are up there but not sure who else would beat out the Caps.

Since I’m also an Oilers fan my top 3 is the Flyers, Caps and Flames in no particular order.

  11. bag o' pucks

    Jan 21, 09:04 PM

@Chris. That’s a pretty good top 3 (although I kinda like the Flames, in as much as I can like any other NHL team).
    1) Flyers, I really hates dem.
    2) Islanders, used to be tied for first with Philly, but their recent ineptitude drops them to second, for now. Younger fans don’t always get Islander hate, but if you’re over 35 (which I am), you know why: 1975, 1982, 1993.
    3) Red Wings & Rangers, tie.
    5) Caps & Leafs, tie.
    That’s the top six, eh.

Dang, Ovie just spanked Letang. Tanger’s gotta keep moving his feet, and that goal doesn’t happen.

    Jan 21, 11:09 PM

Okay, maybe the Caps are starting to climb the ladder, we’ll call it a tie for third with Detroit & NYR. My hatred for the Leafs was in full force during the Darcy Tucker era there. He’s gone and they suck, so…

  13. Pens1967

    Jan 21, 11:12 PM

A pathetic effort by the Penguins. If Shero wants a team that’s hard to play against, this one isn’t it. Did they even hit any of Washington’s rookie/scrub d-men on the forecheck? If anyone thinks Kunitz isn’t worth the 3.5M he gets, think again. He sets the tone for physical play.

The sleepy racoon, Bylsma, gets a fail for screwing up all three lines top lines.
Guerin and Fedotenko were forced to move over to the other wing where they both looked confused. Kennedy was lost playing with Crosby. Eric Godard. did he see the ice for more than 60 seconds? The penalty kill? Let’s sit back and don’t even pressure 2 Wash forwards at the points.
To top that, the team comes out totally uninterested in playing.

Since it’s hard not to make the NHL playoffs, I predict the Pens will, but they will be one round and done.

  14. bag o' pucks

    Jan 22, 01:13 AM

Kennedy’s probably the worst Pen right now, just awful. He did look clueless on the top line. He’s a third liner, period.

I disagree that the Pens were uninterested. They played hard until they went down by two in the third. Then, it was noticable they accepted defeat. That acceptance worries me more than anything else.

Making playoff predictions after a tough loss is the wrong time to do it. Just like the worst time to interview a fighter is after a loss.

  15. Pens1967

    Jan 22, 08:46 AM

The Pens have shown little committment to team defense for weeks now and exhibit few signs of getting one. They haven’t been able to beat a team above them in the standings all season. Unless both of those change, they’ll have early tee times this year.

    Jan 22, 08:46 AM

TK is still playing hard, just seems to be like Malkin was…trying too hard or something.

Pucks, count me in that over 35 crowd (sic) I used to hate the Islanders with a passion equal to the one I hate Philly with lol.
