“netwolf” has posted his report for today’s camp session at LetsGoPens.com.
The lines seem to be the same as those below, though Petr Sykora as returned to action.
Original Story
According to camp reports written by “netwolf” of LetsGoPens.com, the Pittsburgh Penguins may be taking the first steps toward defining the final roster.
Camp, as has been the case since day one, was divided into two groups. The first group, however, looked to be the opening night lineup, while group two appeared to be those on their way back to the minors or juniors.
Group 1
Recchi – Crosby – Hall
Roberts – Malkin – Christensen
Malone – Staal – Armstrong
Ruutu – Talbot – Laraque
Skyora sat due to injury
Sydor – Gonchar
Orpik – Whitney
Eaton – Scuderi
Nasreddine – Weaver
Fleury
Sabourin
Group 2
Esposito – Jeffrey – Kennedy
Stone – Smith – Filewich
Minard – Taffe – James
Extra: Brent – Wallace
Lannon – Letang
Goligoski – Lovejoy
Extra: Rullier
Conklin
Curry
Interestingly, Adam Hall was the fill in for the injured Petr Sykora on the top line.
And, while this appears to be the potential opening-day roster, it also may be safe to assume that the first group simply was made up of those with NHL experience, while the second group kept together those who have had little or no time in the NHL.
The Penguins will be traveling to West Point military academy for training and team-building drills from Monday to Wednesday. According to reports out of Pittsburgh, management would like to have the roster reduced significantly before then, meaning a round of cuts should come no later than Sunday.
