Deja Vu All Over Again, Penguins Lose 3-2

It wasn’t a pretty sight in New York as the Islanders seemlingly took a page out of the Colorado Avalanche’s book to overcome a two-goal deficit to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2.

The positive note — if there is one — is that the Penguins finally receieved goals from players not named Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin or Petr Skyora, as Ryan Malone (also known as the “Islander Killer”) and Tyler Kennedy found the back of the net.

Crosby also extended his point streak to 12 games with his assist on the Malone power play goal.

But, as mentioned above, the team blew a two-goal lead for the second consecutive night, suggesting the desperation quite simply is not there.

Could this be the game that forces general manager Ray Shero to start working the phones in search of a trade to spark the team?

Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure: nothing coach Michel Therrien is doing is working.

Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury made 36 saves in his losing effort, while Rick DiPietro and Wade Dubielewicz combined to make 23 saves.
