Earlier this month rumors circulated that forwards Gary Roberts and Jarkko Ruutu had requested to be traded from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Those rumors were put to rest yesterday, as Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette uncovered the truth.

“When things are not going well, things come out that are not even true,” Ruutu said.

The rumors apparently circulated after forward Mark Recchi was put on waivers and later claimed off of re-entry waivers.

Roberts Uneasy About Outdoor Game
If Roberts wasn’t seeking a trade because his buddy Recchi was let go, maybe he’ll seek one prior to Tuesday’s Winter Classic outdoor game to be held at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo.

“Yeah, how (am I) going to get out of it,” he said jokingly to Ira Podell of the Associated Press.

“It doesn’t really interest me. It’s outdoors. It’s too cold for me. I played a charity game outdoors in Hamilton in a football stadium during the lockout. We got about 30 mile-an-hour wind, we had rain.”

It’s good to know that Roberts and Ruutu don’t want to leave because I like those two.

Yeah, I agree Ashley. Roberts and Ruutu are guys I like having on the team. Ruutu, I think, is being restrained a bit, but on occasion, he breaks free and the old Ruutu shines through. When that happens, it puts a smile on my face.

Dabich and KG, definitely not the way I was hoping he would get out of the game. I was thinking more on the lines of, say, forgetting is skates or something.
