Goalie Goepfert As Good As Gone...

Faceoff Factor has learned from a credible source very close to the situation that Bobby Goepfert will not be signed by the Pittsburgh Penguins this summer.

The young goaltender has spent the previous seasons as the starting goaltender at St. Cloud State, where he was a Hobey Baker finalist in 2006-07.

According to the source, who has asked to remain anonymous due to his involvement, the Penguins have shown no interest.

“Pittsburgh isn’t going to sign him,” the source said. “They never offered anything, but there are a couple of teams that really like him. So I guess it’s just going to be a waiting game until he is free. It’s too bad, but…things will end up working out.”

He added that he is not in position to name teams that have shown interest in Goepfert.
