The Pittsburgh Penguins have made four roster moves today, three of them involving the AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre.
C Kris Beech was placed on IR with a broken wrist.
LW Chris Minard and RW Connor James were both recalled to Pittsburgh. Both players are on their second recall to Pittsburgh this year. Neither of them have scored in the NHL during these stints.
D Alex Goligoski was returned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins after playing 8 minutes against Boston and going scoreless.

I wasn’t aware that Goligoski was expected to score…

He probably wasn’t. On the other hand, he was probably never expected to stick, either. The Pgh Pens seem to be rotating through the better players on the WBS roster, seeing how they do in practices, and for some, a game or two in the NHL. It’s a combination reward for doing well and mid-season evaluation of prospect progress. I fully expected Goligoski to get sent back down after the road trip was over, even though he didn’t look bad.
It does say something about how frequent these roster moves are coming, though, when you realize that the Pens’ own website can’t keep up with the roster changes – they not only still have Goligoski on the roster, they still have Filewich there!

I was extremely impressed with Goligoski’s skating and stride. He didn’t make any ‘rookie’ mistakes either, even when him and Letang were paired up.
I can’t wait until he’s on the team permanantly.
