Avalanche Make Crucial Re-signings

The Colorado Avalanche today re-signed two of their top young defensemen.

Jordan Leopold, 26, signed a two-year deal worth an unspecified amount, despite playing in just 15 games during the previous season due to numerous injuries.

In those 15 games, he recorded five points and a minus-four rating.

Kurt Sauer, also 26, signed a one-year contract. The monetary commitment made by the Avalanche was not released.

In 48 games last season, Sauer recorded six points and a minus-three rating.

The Avalanche also re-signed defenseman Jeff Finger and forward David Jones.

Rangers Ink Prospect Dupont
Brodie Dupont, 20, signed three-year entry level contract with the New York Rangers. The former third round draft pick played 214 games with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL before signing yesterday.

He recorded 81 goals and 62 assists for 149 points and 324 penalty minutes.
