Welcome to the latest installment of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins weekly report. It’s getting to stretch time… less than a month left in the regular season. Both the Pittsburgh and WBS Penguins find themselves with constantly changing rosters. So how are they doing?
TRANSACTIONS:
The most recent transactions find C/LW Ryan Stone making his third trip to Pittsburgh this year and RW Connor James making his fifth.
We would like to congratulate both Stone and C/LW Chris Minard as both recorded their first NHL points on Wednesday night against Buffalo. Minard deposited his first NHL goal with an assist from Stone.
INJURIES:
Fortunately enough, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have been able to avoid most of the injuries that have plagued their parent club in the NHL.
The only significant injury is D Mark Ardelan (knee), who should return within the next 2-3 weeks.
HOT/NOT:
Over the last few games, the best forwards have been Stone (3G+3A in 5 GP), F Ned Havern (1G+2A in last 4 GP), and LW/D Paul Bissonnette (first goal of season).
Fan favorite D Ben Lovejoy also was able to deposit his first goal of his professional hockey career as part of a 5-3 win over the Norfolk Admirals, a game in which mid-season acquisition LW David Gove tallied his first professional hat trick.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE:
Friday, 3/14 at Bridgeport, 7:35
Saturday, 3/15 at Albany, 7:05
Sunday, 3/16 at Providence, 4:05
Wednesday, 3/19 vs. Lowell, 7:05
NOTE TO READERS:
On a personal note, I would like to apologize to the regular readers of this column. Due to serious illness, business trips, and extended work requirements, the last weekly report was missed. I apologize and will do my best to return to the regular schedule. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.
