Summary

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Baby Penguins advance to the AHL Calder Cup Finals after F Tim Brent scored the game winning goal with only 30 seconds remaining in regulation.

The Baby Pens started the game off great with a 2-0 lead in the 1st period.

At 9:54, F Dave Gove scored his 3rd goal of the playoffs off a pass by D Alex Goligoski.

RW Ryan Stone would also score his 4th goal of the playoffs.

The Pirates showed signs of life as they tied it up at 2-2 going into the third period.

Goaltenders JS Aubin and John Curry battled all night respectively, until the Pens scored with only a half of a minute left in the game.

F Tim Brent put home a rebound to score the game winning goal, which was assisted by Goligoski and LW Kurtis McLean. If the game is on the line, McLean is on the ice. The tally was Brent’s league leading 11th post season goal.

The Pens would hold off the Pirates for the remaining of regulation as the buzzer sounded to another loud Wachovia Arena crowd.

G John Curry picked up 30 saves on 32 shots faced.

The Pens will now move on to take on the Atlanta Thrasher’s minor league affiliate team, the Chicago Wolves.
