Summary

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Baby Penguins defeated the Chicago Wolves tonight with a final score of 3-2. Captain C Nathan Smith led the way for the Penguins.

The Pens started out great with a 2-0 lead into the 2nd period.

LW Chris Minard scored on a powerplay after F Tim Brent found him standing to the side of the net. This was Minard’s 11th goal of the post season.

F Dave Gove scored his 4th of the playoffs when he re-directed a shot taken from D Ben Lovejoy.

On a powerplay again, C Nathan Smith would score the eventual game-winning goal, his 7th of the playoffs. Smith also added an assist on the first Penguins tally.

RW Dennis Bonvie rallied his troops, and it sure looked like he didn’t want to lose at all. In the 1st period, Bonvie delivered three demolishing hits to the likes of Nathan Oystrik, Andre Deveaux, and 6’7” Boris Valabik. Bonvie put them all down to the ice hard, and brought the Wachovia Arena crowd to their feet.

The Pens now trail the series 3-1, and look to continue the comeback in their quest for the Calder Cup. The teams meet again tomorrow at 7:05, in Wilkes-Barre. All the games from this series will be broadcasted by the NHL Network.
