WBS Defender Lannon Signs With Phoenix

Ryan Lannon has been in the Pittsburgh Penguins’ organization for years and once was touted as having the potential of being a bottom pairing NHL defenseman.

But, with the emergence of Rob Scuderi and Kris Letang, Lannon’s status within the organization quickly dropped to that of an AHL player barely on the NHL radar.

Yesterday, Lannon took a step toward changing that status when he signed with the Phoenix Coyotes.

While he likely will remain in the AHL, his chances of promotion in Phoenix are much more likely than they were in Pittsburgh.

His contract is said to be a one year, two-way deal worth an undisclosed amount.
