| Kurtis McLean comes back to haunt the "Baby" Penguins
tonight, scoring 2 shootout goals to put the game away. The Sound Tigers got off to a quick 2-0 lead, after Tim Jackman got a lucky bounce off the boards and scored into basically an empty cage. To start off the 2nd period, Deryk Engelland decides to spark his team with a scrap against Jason Pitton. Soon after, Jean-Phillipe Cote comes up with a huge hit on Tyler Haskins. Blake Comeau and Cote drop the gloves in a short bout. On an ensuing power play Chris Minard sniped his 3rd goal of the season, from his knees nonetheless. Bridgeport would add another goal, but the Pens returned to the comeback trail. Jeff Taffe scored his 1st goal of the season, 6 minutes into the 3rd period. Then, Janne Pesonen takes advantage of a falling defender and finds himself all alone on a breakaway. He pulls off an absolutely nasty move, and slides in his 1st goal of the season to tie the game at 3-3. Overtime came to a close, and that could only mean one thing – a shootout. Pesonen makes the same move we all saw on Youtube and puts the Pens up 1-0. 5 shooters later, Kurtis McLean buries a shot upstairs on Adam Berkhoel to tie it at 1-1. The shootout order carried over after neither the Pens nor Tigers could score a goal, respectively. McLean comes in, and this time dekes to the backhand to end the game against his former team. The next game is Sunday, October 19 at 5:00 against the Hershey Bears. |
