The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins posted a 3-2 win against the defending Calder Cup champion Hamilton Bulldogs on the road on Wednesday night.

The win was the 300th win in Penguins franchise history and brought the Pens back to .500 as their record now stands at 10-10.

Deryk Engelland fired a long shot on Hamilton G Jaroslav Halak, who gloved the puck but dropped the rebound. Nathan Smith poked it over the line only four minutes into the game.

With only 22 seconds left in the first, the Bulldogs evened up the game at one.

Early in the second, the Penguins took the lead again. WBS LW Chris Minard shot a low slap shot between Halak’s legs from the faceoff circle.
G Ty Conklin left a rebound in front of him that the Bulldogs buried close to the end of the second period while C Kurtis McLean was in the penalty box.
The story of the game for Hamilton had to be the Penguins’ goal posts. Twice, the Bulldogs had shorthanded breakaways that beat Conklin but couldn’t get past the posts.
With less than five minutes left in the third period of a tie game, RW Jonathan Filewich took a shot from the right wing and the rebound deflected to LW Joe Jensen on the other side of the net. Jensen easily deposited his first goal of this year.

Wilkes-Barre’s next game is an away game in Syracuse on Friday, November 30.
