The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins lost to another hot team, the Toronto Marlies, 4-1 to end their nine-game winning streak.
The turning point of the game came in the third period. With Toronto D Derrick Walser serving a five-minute major penalty for high-sticking, WBS C Kurtis McLean took a hooking penalty to negate two minutes of that power play. Soon after McLean re-entered the game, Toronto was able to score a short-handed goal to give them a 2-0 lead that they would not lose.
Hot-handed Penguin LW Chris Minard scored the lone Penguins goal, his 17th on the season, to give him six goals in the past three games.
Wilkes-Barre returns home to face the Lake Erie Monsters, AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday night at 7:00.
