Playoff Game 2: Red Wings 4 Coyotes 3

Read Wings lead the series 2-0.

Quick Recap

Power Plays were king in the match up at Joe Louis today where the Wings sealed a 2-0 lead before heading to Phoenix. They helped Detroit gain a 4-0 lead, and subsequently helped Phoenix attempt a come back.

The Wings came out strong and ended the first with a 3-0 lead. High scorer Johan Franzen left the period with an injury after taking the hit into the boards. He would later return to play in the second, but was looking rather beat up after a pile up of injuries including a hurt nose from game one of the series and a cut above his eye from the last game in the regular season.

Just as Detroit takes a 4-0 lead in the second, Phoenix rallies to make that deficit much smaller.

Three power play goals, one in the second and two in the third bring the Coyotes dangerous close to tying the game.

Goaltender Jimmy Howard and the Wings hold out, however, and get the win.

The teams meet on Monday at 10:30 p.m. in Phoenix.
