Faceoff Factor Celebrates 100,000 Hits

After a short five months at our new Faceoff-Factor.com home, we are proud to announce that, thanks to you, the reader, we have reached the 100,000 visitor mark.

Faceoff Factor, originally started by myself and Jesse Marshall as a blog to make public our hockey thoughts, has grown into a site that many people around the globe visit daily.

At the current time, we are receiving nearly 1,000 hits per day on average — and that number counts each individual only once in a 24-hour time period.

But we weren’t always this exposed.

“To start with a few people who met on message boards, and then to have it grow to a point where people read our stories on a daily basis is kind of mind-boggling,” said Kyle Dreibelbies, who has been with Faceoff Factor as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins beat writer since our days at blogger.com.

Michael Farkas echoed Dreibelbies’ comments.

“Wow, 100,000? That’s a pretty significant milestone,” said the transaction specialist, who also has been around since the blogger.com days. “Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect at first. You never can tell with these kind of projects. I’m just happy about the success we’ve had and how dedicated our readers are.”

Dreibelbies added that, though Faceoff Factor has reached a milestone, the staff writers won’t back off — but, instead, will look for new ways to keep our readers coming back for more.

“In the future, as this site grows, readers will start to see more photo journalism, as well as exclusives with more players and people close to these teams,” he said. “In short, you’ll see more relationships being built within the professional and amateur ranks of hockey, which will allow for the readers to get a more rounded-out hockey knowledge.”

But in the end, it all comes back to our readers, as Farkas pointed out.

“I mean the fact that we have readers — you know, with that “s” on the end — it’s a real motivator,” Farkas said. “I mean, like I have in my bio, it’s meaningless without our readers. It’s great to know someone is reading what you write, someone is taking the time to leave a comment on it. And, at the risk of sounding like a 15-year-old boy, it’s cool.”

Quite simply, we at Faceoff Factor would like to extend a sincere thank you to each and every person who has taken the time to visit our site, even if only to read one story.

Without you, we would not be where we are today. And, without you, we would not be capable of going where we hope to go tomorrow.

Please stick with us, as we’ve revealed only the tip of the iceberg, to put in in semi-Penguin-related terms.

Matt, Jesse and all of the factor contributors. Congrats and well deserved. No flash and gimmicks and jokes. Just a lot of text with a lot of depth. It was Jesse Marshall who taught me how to make my Move the Needle blog, though I am 45,000 behind the factor. ha-ha. Keep that pedal to the floor. Good job Factor and Good job Readers.
