Faceoff Factor is a new blog dedicated to hockey. We decided to set this blog up because we’re passionate about the great sport that is hockey and we wanted to share our enthusiasm with others. You can find out more about us on this page and why we’ve set up our hockey blog.
Who Are We?
We’re a small team of hockey enthusiasts keen to promote the sport and get more people involved. We all love hockey – while playing the sport is, of course, a whole lot of fun, we also enjoy reading about it and watching matches from around the world. It’s always great to follow a sport and we’d love to get more people following hockey. Even though there are already millions of keen hockey fans, a few more wouldn’t hurt!
We’re from different backgrounds, but what brings us together is our love of hockey. What’s great about all sports is that they can bring people together, no matter who they are and where they come from. We’ve bonded over our appreciation for hockey and want to show you how following hockey in any way – or any sport, for that matter – can be beneficial.
Our Aim
So what’s our aim with this blog? It’s simple, really. We want to promote hockey and en-courage more people to follow it or even play it themselves. Our posts cover just about everything to do with hockey. Whoever you are and no matter how much or how little experience you’ve had with hockey in the past, you should enjoy giving our posts a read and learning more about the sport.
Of course, hockey isn’t just a single game as there are several variants. All hockey games involve two teams using hockey sticks to score goals in the opposing team’s net. In many countries, the term ‘hockey’ refers to field hockey, which is played on natural surfaces or artificial turf and uses a small ball. In places such as the USA, Canada and northern Europe, ‘hockey’ refers to ice hockey, which is played on a flat playing area made of ice and uses a puck instead of a ball.
Several other forms of hockey exist. Our blog mostly covers the main two types (field and ice), though some of our posts will no doubt cover the less common types of hockey.
