If you’re got even just a small amount of interest in hockey, don’t go anywhere – we’ve got lots of posts about the sport that you’re sure to enjoy reading.

Hockey Today

Hockey is a popular sport that’s played in many countries around the world. There are many professional leagues, tournaments and competitions, with the sport also played in major multi-sports events such as the Olympics.

There are several versions of hockey. The main ones are field hockey, which is played on artificial turf or natural land, and ice hockey, which uses a large frozen playing area. These are the two that are most often played in major competitions.

Some of the other types of hockey you’ll come across include bandy, roller hockey and street hockey. Bandy is similar to ice hockey, though a ball is used instead of a puck and many rules are similar to those used in association football. Roller hockey is similar to ice hockey, though it’s played on hard surfaces and the players wear in-line skates. Then there’s street hockey, which tends to be played out on the streets, with a ball used instead of a puck and little, if no, protective equipment worn by the players.

Our blog focuses on the bigger versions of hockey, though we’ll no doubt be covering some of the less popular ones from time to time.

How to Get Involved

If you’d like to start the following hockey, why not start now? Do some online research to find out about local, national or international teams and see what upcoming matches and tournaments there are. If you want to actually play the sport, have a look for local clubs and see if they’re letting new members join.

Even if you have no experience at all you’ll be welcome. After all, everyone has to start somewhere. If you do decide to play hockey, it’s a good idea to learn as much as you can about the rules and how the game’s played. When you start playing, the more familiar you are with the game, the more confident you’ll feel as you play.
